Farming and Feeding of the Minds 2010
Join us on October 16th and 17th for a special two day event — Farming & Feeding of the Minds — featuring Joel Salatin http://www.polyfacefarms.com, one of the heroes in Michael Pollan's The Omnivore's Dilemma and the movie Food Inc., and Eliot Coleman http://www.fourseasonfarm.com, organic farming pioneer and author of The New Organic Grower.
Enjoy workshops aimed to inspire area farmers and gardening enthusiasts, informative presentations and feasting on locally grown, raised and produced food prepared by Chef Ryan Hardy of The Little Nell.
The Saturday, October 16th afternoon Hands-on Workshops will be led by Joel Salatin and Eliot Coleman from 1:00 pm - 5:30 pm. Families are welcome and children under 12 are free. Children must be attended at all times. Fresh apple cider, apples and homemade baked goods will be offered to all attendees. Slow Food Roaring Fork and Slow Food Western Slope will sponsor 70 growers and farmers to attend the day at no charge.
The highlight of the weekend is the Sunday, October 17th Dinner Event from 4 pm - 9 pm. Guests will enjoy tours of the farm, a bounty of exquisite farm to table creations, tantalizing wine pairings, live bluegrass entertainment, book signings, and feature presentations by Joel & Eliot. Joel's speaking topic is 'Ballet in the Pasture' and Eliot's is 'Symphony in the Greenhouse.'
